Hi lads, In this post, we’re going to explore the different states of matter and the physical processes that cause one state to change into another. As you can observe in this image, matter can exist in four main states: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Each of these states has unique properties that make them distinct. Solid In the solid state, matter has a fixed shape and volume. The particles (atoms or molecules) are closely packed together and vibrate in place but don’t move freely. Solids are rigid and maintain their structure unless force is applied. Common examples include ice, metals, and wood.
